On behalf of the staff of the Ogunquit Police Department, thank you for visiting our website. It is my honor to serve as your Chief of Police.

Goal: It is our goal to remain a highly respected professional police department that serves as a model for the region. We will achieve this by continued officer training, high ethical standards, maintaining a presence in regional crime control efforts, strong relationships with community stakeholders and innovative approaches to keep Ogunquit safe.

Community Commitment: The Ogunquit Police Department is committed to providing quality community-based policing service to the residents and visitors of Ogunquit. Ogunquit is a small, quiet, coastal town of just over 1,200 residents in the winter that blossoms into a bustling tourist destination in the summer of approximately 50,000 people. To address this annual change in population, and provide for the differing needs of our community, we work with additional staff to handle the rise in calls for service, parking challenges, and traffic related calls for service. We feel fortunate to serve this “Beautiful Place By The Sea”. With some of the state's best shops, restaurants, top quality lodging, the Marginal Way walking path, and award winning Ogunquit Beach, there is something to peak anyone's interest! We are committed to providing our residents and visitors with the highest quality police service so Ogunquit can be enjoyed to the fullest.

Mission: Despite the influx in population, our mission remains the same. That is to continue to provide the same compassion, integrity, fairness, and respect that meets the specific needs of our vibrant, diverse community, no matter the season. We owe our success to the dedicated members of our department, our volunteers, and the unbelievable support we receive from our community. Though we have overcome many obstacles, and developed a strong relationship with our community, we have even higher expectations for our future. We feel fortunate to live and work in such a beautiful area and we want to make sure you enjoy your time here as well.

Please stop in and say hello if you're in the area.

John Lizanecz, Chief of Police
