1. Where are the Municipal Parking Lots?

2. Can I barbecue on the beach?

Fires of any type are not allowed on any Ogunquit Beach.

3. Is camping allowed?

Camping areas are not allowed within the Town limits.

4. How do I learn about getting married in ogunquit?

Visit the Town Clerk page to fill out the proper forms to get married in Town. The phone number and email address are listed in the Town Clerk staff directory.

5. How can I locate a motel/hotel?

Contact the Ogunquit Chamber of Commerce to obtain a list of the local establishments. They can be reached through the Helpful Links section of this website.

6. What do I need to know about dog registration?

All dogs that reside in the Town must be registered with the Town Clerk annually. This includes all animals because of the concern for rabies within the Town.

7. Are dogs allowed on the beach?

The current Town Ordinance states:

• Dogs are not permitted on the Ogunquit Beach area from April 1st to September 8th.
• Dogs are not permitted on the Marginal Way from April 1st to September 30th
• Dogs are permitted on the Ogunquit Beach Area from September 9th to March 31st.
• Dogs are permitted on the Marginal Way from October 1st to March 31st
• Dogs must be on a leash.
• Dogs are not permitted in the Ogunquit River Estuary at any time.

8. Are horses or ponies allowed on the beach?

Ponies or horses are not permitted on Ogunquit Beach, including the Ogunquit River Estuary, year-round.

9. Are there rules about cleaning up after your animal?

Except for property belonging to the owner, the owner of any pet or animal shall remove from private or public property any animal offal, which that pet or animal excretes. The first offense, once determined by the Town, shall merit a $150 fine. The second or additional offenses, once determined by the Town, shall merit a $250 fine for each separate offense

10. Can I enroll in a political party?

Currently, there are three official political parties within the State of Maine, Democrat, Green Independent, and Republican. Registered voters may enroll in one of these three political parties. Voters who wish to register to vote do not have to declare a party unless they wish to vote in a primary or party caucus.

Staff in the Ogunquit Town Office cannot answer questions regarding the purposes and objectives of a particular political party in Maine. Voters with questions are encouraged to contact their local party chairperson, or view the following links for additional information about each political party:

11. When are elections scheduled?

The municipal election is held the second Tuesday in June. The Select Board, Budget Review Committee and CSD Trustees are elected for 3-year terms. The terms are staggered so that 2 or 3 seats become available each year. A trustee to the Kennebunk Water District is elected every three years. The State of Maine general and referendum elections are held on Tuesday following the first Monday in November. The primary election is held on the 2nd Tuesday of June of each general election year.

12. How do I register to vote?

The State of Maine allows residents to register to vote anytime, including the day of the election. Residents of Ogunquit may register to vote at the Town Clerk's Office, 23 School Street in the Dunaway Community Center. Proof of residency and proof of identity is required (i.e., Maine driver's license, Ogunquit vehicle registration indicating a physical address in Ogunquit (not a post office box mailing address).

13. Where do I vote?

All residents of Ogunquit vote at the S Judson Dunaway Community Center, 23 School Street.

14. I'll be out of town on election day, how do I vote?

If you are unable to vote at the polls on Election Day, you may obtain an absentee ballot.  Absentee ballots are available at the Town Clerk's Office approximately 30 days prior to the scheduled election.  The absentee ballot may be voted at Town Hall or mailed to the voter, upon request.

15. Can I purchase a memorial bench on the marginal way?

No, there are no longer named benches available on the Marginal Way, but you may reserve plaque space on the Marginal Way with a refundable deposit.

16. Where is the transfer station?

The Ogunquit Transfer Station is located at 28 Spring Hill Road Ogunquit, ME 03907. The transfer station no longer requires a sticker to access the facility. We ask that all trash be disposed of in official town trash bags that can be purchased at the transfer station, town hall and Wells Hannaford. 

17. How do I get a beach pass?

Beach passes are only available to year-round residents and property owners who have habitable buildings on their land. The year-round renters must prove that they live in Town all year.

18. Where do I pick up my beach pass?

All beach passes can be obtained from the Visitor Services Department, downstairs at the Dunaway Center.
